Akro Senior High Technical School

THE BRIEF HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL

Akro Senior High Technical School is located in Odumase-Krobo of the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality in the Eastern Region of Ghana. The school started as a private school in 1934 by an educationist by name Mr. Rudolf Philip Djabanor. It was noticed that, there were inadequate schools in the community, the levels of illiteracy, disease, unemployment, teenage pregnancy and idle life were high and this had adverse effects on all aspects of development of the community, hence, Mr. Djabanor committed his retirement benefits for the establishment of the school.

The school was initially a day primary school for boys and girls, however in 1948, it was taken over by Government and was turned into a boy’s school and subsequently upgraded to a Secondary Technical School for Boys and Girls in accordance with Government policy on technical education in 1991.

Today, Akro Senior High Technical School is a mixed school with Boarding facilities and the student population is Two Thousand, Four Hundred and Twelve (2412) and a staff strength of One Hundred and Seventy-Nine (179).
