Akro Senior High Technical School marked a significant milestone in its governance and leadership with the successful inauguration of a new Board of Governors at a well-attended ceremony held on campus. The event brought together education authorities, members of the school community, traditional leaders, and other distinguished guests who gathered to witness this important moment in the school’s journey.

The ceremony began on a solemn and spiritual note with an opening prayer led by the School Chaplain, Rev. Francis Nartey Adamasi, who committed the program and the future of the institution into God’s hands.
Following the prayer, Miss. Francisca Nutsu (Yokama 2024) formally introduced the Chairperson for the occasion. The Chairperson, Mrs. Diana Akosua Mintah, graciously accepted the mantle to preside over the ceremony and guided the proceedings with dignity and purpose.

In her welcome address, the Headmistress of the school, Miss. Theresa Hushie, warmly welcomed all dignitaries and participants to the ceremony. She expressed appreciation for their presence and emphasized the importance of strong leadership and collaboration in advancing the school’s mission of academic and technical excellence.
The outgoing Chairman of the Board, Mr. James Otieku, delivered his address, reflecting on the work and achievements of the outgoing board. He expressed gratitude to members for their dedication and encouraged the incoming board to continue working toward the growth and progress of the institution.

Subsequently, the Regional Director of Education, Dr. Mrs. Ivy Asentewaa Owusu, formally dissolved the outgoing Board of Governors, bringing their tenure of service to a close. This was followed by the introduction of the newly constituted board.
The new board members were then officially inducted by His Lordship A. K. Namoura, a High Court Judge at Somanya. During the induction ceremony, the members accepted the responsibility entrusted to them and affirmed their commitment to serving the school faithfully. In a symbolic expression of dedication, the new board members joined together to recite the words of the hymn “A Charge to Keep I Have,” reflecting their readiness to uphold the mandate given to them.
To enrich the ceremony, the school choir presented beautiful musical interludes while dignitaries and guests took turns to congratulate and shake hands with the newly inducted board members.
The highlight of the ceremony was the inaugural address delivered by the Regional Director of Education, Dr. Mrs. Ivy Asentewaa Owusu. In her address, she emphasized the core values embedded in the school anthem and encouraged teachers, students, traditional leaders, and stakeholders to work collectively in supporting the school’s mandate of providing quality education and nurturing responsible future leaders.

In recognition of the dedication and service of the outgoing board, Miss. Maame Yaa Antwi led the presentation of citations to honor the former members for their invaluable contributions to the development of the school.

The ceremony also took a moment of reflection as Rev. Francis Nartey Adamasi led the gathering in observing a minute of silence in memory of the late Mr. Stephen T. Amlalo, a former board member who served the school with distinction.
The program concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Miss. Rosemary Agbenor, who expressed appreciation to all dignitaries, guests, and members of the school community for their presence and support in making the event a memorable success.
The inauguration of the new Board of Governors marks a new chapter for Akro Senior High Technical School as it continues its journey toward greater academic excellence, strong leadership, and sustained institutional growth.
