On Wednesday, 18th February 2026, the Home Economics Department of Akro Senior High Technical School organized an intensive practical session for final-year students in preparation for the upcoming WASSCE examinations.
The session, spearheaded by the Clothing Unit, was designed to equip students with essential practical skills and technical knowledge required to excel in Clothing and Textiles practical examinations. Students were taken through key techniques in garment construction, pattern drafting, accurate measurements, finishing processes, and effective presentation of practical work. Particular emphasis was placed on helping students understand how to properly interpret WASSCE practical questions, manage their time efficiently, and meet examination standards with confidence and precision.
The Head of Department, Miss Irene Dey, together with the Clothing teachers, encouraged students to continuously practice and explore new fashion styles to enhance their creativity, technical competence, and self-confidence. She emphasized that consistent hands-on practice is the key to mastering skills and achieving excellence both in examinations and future careers in the fashion industry.
Miss Irene Dey also expressed her sincere appreciation to the Clothing teachers for their dedication, commitment, and hard work in training and mentoring the students. She acknowledged their efforts in ensuring that learners are well-prepared, skillful, and confident ahead of their final examinations.
The practical session was highly engaging and beneficial, reflecting the department’s commitment to combining theory with practical experience. The Home Economics Department remains steadfast in its mission to nurture skilled, innovative, and confident graduates who are ready to succeed in the WASSCE and beyond.
